What is Changa Institute Research Center?

CIRC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research lab working at the intersection of consciousness science and transformative technology. We use AI, neuroscience, and state-regulated psilocybin frameworks to generate the real-world outcomes data that insurers, the VA, and healthcare systems need to make psilocybin-assisted therapy broadly and equitably accessible.

Who is behind this work?

CIRC was founded by the team behind Changa Institute, the organization that built the nation's first government-approved psilocybin facilitator training program in U.S. history. Our scientific advisory team includes experts in clinical psychology, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence. We operate within Oregon and Colorado's state-regulated frameworks and are actively involved in shaping psilocybin policy in New Mexico.

What makes your research different from existing psilocybin studies?

Landmark psilocybin trials at Johns Hopkins, NYU, and Imperial College London were conducted in controlled clinical settings. CIRC works inside state-regulated programs where treatment is already delivered to the public, producing delivery standards and real-world outcomes that controlled trials are not designed to generate. The two approaches are complementary, not competing.

How are donations used?

Every dollar funds three priorities: participant care for the 30 veterans in our current study, research staff and operational infrastructure across a two-year study period, and data analysis and peer-reviewed publication. CIRC is actively pursuing technology partnerships to co-fund infrastructure costs, maximizing the direct impact of every philanthropic dollar.
